Sprints & Huddles are great for action & morale.

Communication is highly underestimated and needs to have an effective early position in launch planning. Strong, clear communication between a team keeps the members engaged and motivated. Early communication both internally and externally allows people outside your team to enjoy the launch journey and rally behind your success.

Two key successful elements of the launch team’s communication include the regular monthly ‘Sprint’ meetings and the “Huddle or stand up”.

The Sprint can be done every 2 to 4 weeks to highlight and make accountable individual tasks to be completed during the next set period. This turns plans into actionable tasks that get done. This should not be an excessive list but only tasks that the individual feels will assist and inform their fellow team members and maintain a progressive launch.

A huddle or stand up should only last 20 min and can be done weekly with focus on three points from each person

  • “What have I done last?”
  • “What am I doing next?”
  • “Do I have any blockages that need resolution?”

Think half time / intermission in a sporting game or music performance where you debrief on progress made, what to do next, sort out any problems and then get back into the action. This is an integral part of any great team.
